In analysis at 20:30 Bd3 forces the queen back to say c6, c7 is bad. Then bf4, with multiple threats: Qh8+ Nd4 and c4 in some lines.

Your comment about the 'smother' checkmate appears inaccurate to me. Couldn't the pawn capture the knight, thus ending the "check"?

The current value of material is practical, but not accurate. In any of these positions you could have made that extra pawn a passed rook pawn and the rook becomes heavily favored. Primarily due to how difficult it is to stop a rook pawn with minor pieces. The truth is that the value of a piece changes based on the dynamics of the position. Sometimes a rook and a pawn are favored vs two minor pieces. Sometimes 3 minor pieces lose to the queen or even a queen being better than two rooks. What changes is the pawn structure. The value of a pawn is not always 1.

At 36:10 why not move the queen to h6. This way the white pawn on f4 is still attacked twice and there is still no way to defend it. If white responds with Qg6 insisting on a queen trade after ..Qxg6 fxQg5 we move the black knight to f4 threatening the white bishop on d3 and after white moves we can give a check on h3 or f3 and win the pawn on g5 or e5. The decision depends on whether we think the e5 pawn is more dangerous as a passed pawn or the g5 pawn because it can open up the pawns in front of the black queen. Probably the passed pawn on e5 is more dangerous and the g5 can't be defended quickly enough ans so should fall soon anyway.

I've only just noticed the subtle humor in "Mistkae." This is a great video. Although I very seldom reach the position shown, I often have to decide what to do after d4. And the answer is e5! That is the real purpose! I seldom lose pieces through blunders but I miss a LOT of takes and attacking opportunities. The way you pulled apart the king side position is a marvel, as well as the queen trap. Your speciality is how to turn an apparent sacrifice into not a sacrifice because opponent would be mad to accept it. Your put your pieces into some crazy positions that I am too cautious to even think of!

Hey Nelson, I have possible move for white after black plays Qxe5. It is a3. a3 stops castling and also prevents Bb4 from black. Does it work?

You mind was so on autopilot with chess rules specific to playing western chess that the only way to win by two things one focusing on the other chess pieces except the king until later to capture. two focusing on the provide rulebook & learn is much as you can by trying to uncover the hidden rules. & bonus question just how powerful was the advisor chess piece?

After white Nxe5, would black's pawn to g6 stop the Queen attack? It changes the order of things since if e5xg6 then h7xg6 opens the h file for the rook. It looks like g6 blunts the whole attack.

Hi Nelson, I have two ideas for videos that would be helpful for myself (1950) & hopefully many others: 1) How to flag well. The idea being avoid simplifications which help your opponent process faster & move quicker, instead looking for active moves which further complicate the position, even if they’re not the best moves. 2) When to play g5 in the Italian as black. I feel there’s little instructional middle game content for black in the Italian, so this could even be a series of plans black can go for depending on the specific setup white goes for in the quiet Italian positions. Thanks for the awesome instructional content & congrats on reaching 2300!

7:09 You said he moved in + pattern, not that he moved off the board, that's why it's false accusation 8:40 You acciedently break the rule of that it can only move in × pattern 22:52 There have to be 3 towers to move a CASTLE, not the ROOK 29:51 It says that queen can't take the king, not that king can't take the queen

4:50 you could have sacrificed the rook by Rg7 and King takes then black bishop H6 check and King goes back now Qg5 check and Kh8 now Qg7 checkmate , if the oppenent see through this then he got open pawn structure on his castled side
